Yeah wearing a mask does absolutely nothing to change the "severity" of any viral illness. If you're exposed, you're exposed. And unless your body stops it immediately, the virus will replicate into trillions of viral particles using your cells soon. Regardless of whether you were exposed to 100 virus particles or 1,000,000 initially.
Only thing is, with 100 your body has a fighting chance of getting rid of them before they take over.
Initial viral load does play a part with regard to the severity of COVID. The problem with many who develop serious cases is not that they can't fight the virus, it's that they can't fight it quickly enough and the virus does more damage (than repairable) before being defeated.
The deaths aren't due to COVID. The deaths are due to complications arising from COVID (mainly respiratory failure due to COVID induced bilateral pneumonia).
I haven't worn a mask outside ever and I didn't wear a mask indoors unless there was a mandate which forced me too. I caught COVID fairly early on (March 2020), am fairly young, and then got vaccinated so I wasn't particularly worried. Then I caught the omicron variant a few days before Jan 1, 2022 so I'm as well.protected as anyone can be.
However, I don't begrudge anyone who wants to wear a mask. It's a personal choice. Just like it's my choice not to wear one.
When it is not the people who are obsessed with it it's the politicians. Boston is still masking up kids in schools, and Philadelphia reinstated an indoor mask mandate as of yesterday.
And we're going to see more of this as the mid-term elections are around the corner, so mail-in ballots can be "highly recommended". Wait til November, they will bring up the severity of the virus again and how we "shouldn't let out guard down".

Yep and covid will disappear the day after the 2020 election...
Have people not considered the reason death rates have plummeted: is because people such as myself are still wearing masks indoors and the risk taking people are already dead? It's morbid but 100% true and most ER physicians acknowledge this effect.
I doubt the cheap, flimsy and improperly worn masks most people wear are doing anything. In fact, they are probably making the death rate higher by giving people a false sense of security. Proper OEM N95 masks ( not Chinese/Korean knock-offs ), will do something. But nobody wears those.
Here's the deal: you can ask me to take off my mask in indoor public spaces when you agree to cover all my costs if I get sick. That includes paying me cash for the sick days I have to take. That alone is around $700/day. Also all future costs for any complications or sequelae. OK?

" They " are very important people from what I can gather. THEY seem to be on the minds of all Covid deniers that somehow THEY will control their lives for the foreseeable future . I have not idea who THEY are but it seems to me it implies a Ruler on Controller of all things human and based in the Unites States. THEY are a force to be reckoned with even though nobody really knows who THEY are.

Yeah THEY make a good case for it.
They are politicians paid off by big pharmaceutical companies, which in turn are partly owned by Blackrock and other so called elites (like Vanguard) whose goal is to collect all of the world's resources and redistribute these as they see fit whilst keeping 90% for themselves. These blackwater folks also control the media and pay off "fact checkers" to keep people like yourself in denial.
If you're a poor person and think the Blackwater ultra rich guys are going to save you from poverty and give you a condo apartment on Billionaires row, while screwing the rich you're dead wrong. You're going to live in the prajecks' where you will own nothing but be happy. Not even real meat will you be able to eat to fortify you. Your foods will be chemical and GMO based. And everything that you need or want will be rented for a lifetime by the one percent making them even richer. This is all part of the "Green new deal" or "Build back better" by the way. That's how they sell their plans to people who don't do their research.
And by the way, no one denies COVID. We already know that it is a real virus. Where I disagree is that the virus was brought on by some person eating a bat. That's complete BS. The virus was created and patented in part by the NIH as a gain of function biological weapon. In essence, they've used our tax dollars to create the virus and our tax dollars to create these experimental vaccines - enriching no one but themselves while sinking the United States in debt.
