I feel discriminated against. I feel like a second class citizen. I cant believe this is the place I was born in, I dont recognize it anymore.

discrimination - the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things.

second class citizen - person belonging to a social or political group whose rights and opportunities are inferior to those of the dominant group in a society.

Perhaps, there was discrimination against you because you are broke and don't have the necessary money to pay the bill.

Are private establishments like restaurants allowed to make their own health related rules about who they serve during the pandemic?

Yes because their capacity depends on what they allow

Why did you go in?

I would never enter such an establishment regardless of my vaccine status because I respect my fellow Americans' right to choose what goes into their bodies without any animosity or judgment.

Even as a vaccinated person, I don't think the state should require vaccine proof to enter any bar or restaurant. However, you cannot blame the bar or restaurant because the State of NY (Cuomo) clearly said that any restaurant, bar, or business that wishes to use 100% of their capacity, have no masks, and no social distancing ARE required to ask for vaccine proof. Therefore Cuomo would be to blame ultimately. Of course not ALL places are doing this either because they are not aware of the current rule or just dont care at this point. The only elements not clear is IF this will actually be enforced and which exact types of proof are acceptable (i.e. pic of vaccine card rather than physical card).

Keep in mind NJ will be ending masks and social distancing at bars and restaurants starting Friday for vaccinated people, BUT will go by the honor system as of now. Therefore, NY may drop the requirement to prove vax status if neighborimg states are not requiring proof.

Misguided decision that eventually will be revoked or the restaurant would simply close due to lack of business.

Now if it's October and rates are up again then maybe it's more sensible?

Ever see signs on restaurants demanding that you be wearing shoes? Did that make you feel discriminated against?

Ever go to a restaurant that didn't take credit cards? Did that make you feel discriminated against?

If you really grew up in NYC you'd know that we have more rules - spoken and unspoken - than most ciities.
