Post your opinions, predictions, etc.

For example:
  1. When will the 1st phase really open? 2nd phase? 3rd phase?
  2. How will it change the landscape of the NYC in terms of real estate, social life (restaurants, bars, etc.)
  3. Demographic changes?

I'm curious as to what my fellow NYC'ers think?

East Harlem gentrifies once construction for the northern end of the SAS begins.

My only opinion is that it's a colossal waste of money to build a subway two blocks away from an existing line.

Not when it's over capacity and people can't get on trains during rush hours. If there was a way to squeeze more trains on to the Lexington Avenue line, then I would agree, but there's not.

Nah they need the extra subway capacity there. The colossal waste is overpaying union contractors and wasting money on graft & kickbacks

Clearly you've never had to take the 456 at 9 am or 5 pm...

It's packed shoulder to shoulder at 6am when I take it. Can't imagine what it's like at 9am!

I agree the 4-5-6 can't handle the current ridership.

I remember when I used to commute to classes after work and sometimes waiting for multiple trains to pass so that one could ultimately be lucky enough to squeeze onto the train and hope that whatever is poking you that you cannot see is just someone's bag.

I think you'll see some demographic changes and higher prices, yes.

Completion when intended? Not so sure.

You do realize that there are only two city blocks between the 8th Avenue and Broadway subway lines on UWS.
