Yeah, it's never in the newspapers though. They only report 'racist attacks on the poor immigrants in the neighborhood'. But that's a completely different thread.
Oh, how I know! Last Saturday the Mexicans on the other side of us had a LOUD party, with a live band - until 4:38 AM!!!!! They have this party a few times a year. The police referred me to 311, which was worthless.
There are a lot of children in this neighborhood. No one got any sleep.
If noise is bothering you do what I do. I call 911 and tell them that there is going to be a fight. I am getting my baseball bat and if the cops didnt come and stop the noise I was and it will all be on the news. Whenever I did that the cops always came.

I actually did something similar. They never came. I said I am about to go over there and fight the person.
Maybe I need to incriminate myself and say I have a weapon.
311 was really designed to alleviate some of the bulk of calls to 911 but it was never intended to be some great solution to quality of life problems. They might have hyped it that way initially a bit but all they did was change the way the calls were taken. The issues remain.
Now it makes noise complaints a personal fight. Instead of having the police involve.
I'm gonna go nuts on the place next door. Swingin steak knife in the middle of the dancing mofo's. I'm just sayin....it's gonna get bad, cause i'm sick of it. And I'm old and tired and don't care anymore. I'll set the place full of friggin rats.
311 doesn't do anything. It is a joke. A waste of money to pay people to answer these calls. I believe people are going to have to rise up and take a stand. Take action and truly do something. Join forces and fight.
Thanks for giving me yet ANOTHER reason as to why I left NYC and won't be back. I lived in an apartment with four roommates total, four bedrooms. When the one roomie who lived in the front of the apartment moved out the landlord asked me if I wanted her room. It was twice the size of mine with three windows instead of just one. I didn't take it. Reason why? Because the Dominicans on the street would blast their music from the old country until the sun came up. I am glad to be back home now in my racist and Republican middle class neighborhood. We don't put up with that crap here. And if you call for help with shutting someone up you actually get a response!
