Hey, I read in the national news that a girl on Spring Break from NJ is missing in MB. What is the local news saying? Her mother says she would never run away and not keep in touch. Any local insights? I hope and pray that she IS safe and is just irresponsible but unhurt. I hate to think that we have some lunatic preying on our community.

Well, from what I've read in the papers and seen on the national news shows (i.e. Nancy Grace for one), the lunatic may be back in NY.

The guy she went to see from NY is not talking and he left the beach to go back home at 1am Sunday morning after she was over at his hotel.

Nancy Grace called him and he answered the phone and he wouldn't talk to her and told her to talk to his attorney, although he didn't (or wouldn't) give her his attorney's name.

Very suspicious!

This was on Nancy's show last night. Just happened to catch it.

From local media reports.. this whole situation is nothing more than a rebellious teenager who came to MB when her folks, or at least her mom, thought she was in the state of NY. She went out, met others, didn't make it back by the time her 'ride' down here left to go back... and now's she's reported to have been abducted and such.

I do hope that she's ok, but the way the media is hyping this... especially the blow hard, Nancy Grace.. is ridiculous.

Local reports indicated someone to have spotted her yesterday... but that has yet to be confirmed. I bet she's probably scared and doesn't know what to do.. she should call her mom or the police to at least let them know she's ok. Again, I hope that she is...

Sun News reporting today that the police interviewed the girl spotted on the bus from Georgetown and it wasn't the missing girl:

It's not sounding good. At this point she would have surely called her mother at least. I don't have any stats to back it up but my gut tells me that all of this social networking via the web causes teens to lower their defenses because they come to "know" the person they have been chatting with on-line. It would be interesting to see the rate of assaults/violent crimes commited by individuals the victims first met on-line. I'm surely hoping for a good outcome to this story.

Did that missing girl ever turn up? I didn't see any flyers when I was down this weekend and I never saw anything else on the news about her.... We are still hearing about Natalie Holloway's disappearance. Hopefully she was found ok somewhere......

If you're referring to Brittanee Drexel, she has not been located. There have recently been some billboard ads in hopes of getting more info.

Oh gee....I was hoping she had turned up by now. It just seems weird that there hasn't been more news about her situation but maybe I just haven't been paying attention to the news. Thanks for the update.......

Nope, she's still missing. They said her last cell phone call was made around Georgetown area. They have searched but found nothing. They have hired a private investigator now, which, in my opinion, should have been done last year. The police force needs all the help they can get.
