We're looking to travel to Myrtle Beach at the end of March and would like to know when the best time is to avoid all the stupid spring break nonsense...we want a quite family vacation. Any suggestions as to when they all clear out?
They will be there from mid-March thru the end of April. If I were you and you want something quite head down to Folley Beach or skip SC all together and hit Savahanna, GA and Hilton Head!
We have visited both in late March and during the first week of May and never seen any spring breakers, nor had to deal with crowds of any kind.
For a quiet family vacation and if you want to be in the actual city of Myrtle Beach and near all of the main attractions, your best bet would be the section of N. Ocean Blvd. north of 48th Ave. or so. We have stayed at both Forest Dunes and The Island Vista, and that entire section is quiet (but not empty), safe, and, for the most part, family oriented. We saw families with small children and older couples, but virtually no college-aged kids. Most of the hotels in that area restrict bikers and guests under a certain age for just that reason.
^^^^Great advice. If you stay way north or south of the Family Kingdom/Pavilion area you'll be ok. I know exactly how you feel because last year I stayed at a hotel in the heart of the madness mistakenly because it was so quiet in the off season. NEVER again. You can also stay off the beach entirely to avoid the obnoxious kids and hoteliers who enable them.
Myrtle Beach isn't generally hot enough in March for hoards of naked teens....they prefer it farther south!
