Police cleared the Spring Breakers off Myrtle Beach.
Hilton Head also did and closed off their beaches for 60 days
The rest of the coast is still open for now.
Got this from local news this morning.
Isle of Palms Beach is closed, Sullivan's Island Beach is closed, Folly Beach is closed. The city of Charleston has a "shelter in place order". No need to venture down the coast from Myrtle at this time.
Myrtle Beach resorts must cancel reservations for stays until May 1. Guests currently staying in resorts who were not here by March 1 must leave by Sunday.
That may have been the first wise decision MB has made in 25 years. I don’t understand why every coastline community is not following the same path. If open, visitors WILL pour in over Easter regardless of what else is happening. “Asking” people to stay home or “suggesting” people use good judgment without enforcement is nothing more than a very sick joke.

Also includes North Myrtle Beach and the unincorporated areas of Horry County. They all met yesterday and passed emergency ordinances. No reservations until after May 1.

We own a vacation condo in MB and this is going to be a hard financial hit but we don't care. We are GLAD that the local government cares enough about the locals to pass this legislation and prevent the spread of COVID-19, that is the most important thing of all. As someone else said, if they didn't do this, stupid people would swarm down there in droves thinking that the rules don't apply to them and caring not one bit about compromising the safety and well being of the locals.
