55 +/active adult community on SC coast (Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach: townhouse, purchase, gated community)

We are looking for an upscale active adult community that is a short distance (1-2 miles) from the ocean. We are not golfers but a golf community would be fine. Most important for us is that there be activities and opportunities to meet new people since we will be moving from New England. Our price range is about 500K and we would be looking for a house or townhouse of about 2000 sf. or more depending on prices.

I continue to like Seasons at Prince Creek, Murrells Inlet. I am happy with our purchase in Park West, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have strongly considered Seasons.

To be honest, Seasons at Prince Creek is the only one I can think of. They are probably more like 3 or 4 miles to the beach, but they are around the square feet you are looking for. They are well under your price range - current listings are between low 200's and upper 300's.

With the exception of NOT being an adult community, there are many communities that fit your other criteria in Pawley's Island. Just an example: Heritage Plantation is a gated community on a golf course (Heritage Club), about 2 miles to the beach, homes over 2000 sq ft, under 500K, with a pool and tennis courts. And there are others

We are exactly 4 miles (in Park West) to Huntingdon Beach State Park so I would guess that Seasons is about 3.5 miles.

Look at the Dye Estates at the Barefoot Resorts in North Myrtle Beach. It is not a 55 community but Barefoot Resort has everything from golf to yachts on a Marina. The homes are just gorgeous and its an outstanding location.
Gated and with everything at your fingertips.
This would include The Strand Hospital with is a trauma hospital and has #1 heart care. Just saw a nice home listed in the 500 range.
Also townhomes available in the Barefoot.
