What a circus. I haven't heard anything lately from the fine young ladies who ran Five Rivers Foundation into the ground, then walked away free and clear. Maybe Surfside's leaders () can hire them to run the restaurant...

Now, PD, you know I have been here less than two years and you were going to stump me with that one. Luckily, Google is like Surfside, ya start with a little bit of information and a whole lot of $h/t pops up.

Nah, I knew better'n that, just thought you might enjoy the challenge of the hunt. The Surfside situation reminds me so much of Five Rivers. IMO, MB Sun has done an excellent job staying on top of both stories.

Neecie, have you considered a run for councilwoman?

I always enjoy a good research project. I am still puzzled though as to how, after embezzling 100,000, they were only sentenced to 5 years probation.

I hope they continue to stay on top of it and people continue to pay attention. The goings-on in this town are unexceptionable, and the players are unscrupulous. I can only hope that either one by one, or as a group, they are exposed and sent packing.

YIKES! You mean jump into the fire, as opposed to sitting around roasting marshmallows on it? Unfortunately, I still have a lot of "hunting" to do before I can learn enough about this town and the people in it to do any more than oppose how it is being run now. I can only hope that someone with knowledge and experience, not to mention integrity, will step up and try to get things on track.

I often wonder which group provides more entertainment for the Strand...Surfside City Council or the Wacamaw Economic Opportunity Council. They are both highly dysfunctional and I always shake my head when I read of their actions.
