Wildlife sightings can happen when least expected,

can you see her two calves... we must not get too close though, she is large and protective, and we are in a canoe,

allright, this is close enough, she can be very dangerous, so we will back out and leave her be, so wonderful to see they all seem healthy and safe

Baker Lake EP 39

These three photos are on the ten rod portage just north of Baker Lake, in the BWCAW, EP39. Early May, 2005 on our first time on an overnight paddle which we are heading up to South Temperance Lake, about 10 miles further up following a basically NNE course. The trip will last six days, only one of the days was rain.
Our plan for the route to take will be through Baker, Peterson, Kelly, Jack, Weird, Temperance River, and into South Temperance Lake, the chosen campsite will be the most northwestern location.
Note some of the large timber laying on the ground, most of it was felled in the 1999, July 4th, storm

Along the way on our trip, early May, 2005. BWCAW

Mealtime soon, food always tastes better when in the wilds.

Our view, though its hard to tell this day its raining hard, and a bit chilly, but we wouldnt trade it for anything

On 4, July 1999, northern Minnesota experienced devastating winds and rainstroms that blew down or snapped off 40 million trees, with many injuries, property damage. Our route brought us through some of the damaged areas, here is what we saw, May 2005.

Kelly and Jack Lake areas.

I like the story that goes along with your pics, demtion35! The BWCA is an absolutely beautiful area.

Thanks for the compliment as well. I'll have more coming...

We're moving to Texas, I was getting a little nostalgic about MN, I was looking through the few pictures on our mac, found some MN ones figured I'd post on here. A road trip to Bemidji, a rain/rainbow on Hwy 16 heading to Silver Bay, and a random car that started on fire on the side of I-35E Southbound North of St. Paul...
