Congratulations! And thanks for the update. Good luck with the move, and with finding the perfect place to live.

Very cool! I'm really curious what you think of the place. I hope you find it a good place to be ... I know I wish I was back there.

Lotsa good places to live, but that will likely be the subject of another thread.

Mmm... Don't go into a White suburb or small town with a population of 15,000 or less if you don't feel like getting stared down.

Trust me. There are some racists in those areas. Just stay in the metro and you'll be fine.

People are more used to being around people of different races. People who live in the suburbs usually like to keep it a "certain way". People who live in the cities know that they are putting themselves within a diverse population.

People aren't going to burn crosses on your lawn and aren't going to not allow you to sit in the front of a bus or anything but overall I'd say there is a little more xenophobia the further you go out from the core cities. I've heard alot more people in places like Lakeville and Cambridge/St. Francis/outskirts of Ramsey, etc. say really ignorant crap than I have from people in South Minneapolis. Of course you won't have issues with the majority of the people you come into contact with. I'm just saying the probability of it increases the further you go out.
