I used to give plasma. You have to make sure you eat before you donate or you're gonna pass out likely.

You have to make sure you eat, Evergreen. I used to go on an empty stomach, dehydrated after working out and still would get done in 60 minutes. It's about your health. I am healthy, it never phazed me, rookie

I gave plasma as a student. I was too skinny, and tended to faint after they pulled a pint of blood out of me. Nowadays I've got more body mass and occasionally donate blood at the Red Cross.

I was just joshin', but seriously, it's crazy how much a nice big meal and a few bottles of water before hand help your plasma donation

Seriously? Not everyone who donates plasma is unemployed. I work fulltime (salaried office job), go to school full time, and have two kids and I still donate plasma. What they give you is nothing compared to what I make working but it's still a little extra cash and you're helping other people. My time is valuable. Unless you're perfect, don't belittle other people.

I'm not able to donate blood because I have sjogrens syndrome. However i can donate plasma. I'm a disabled person who has worked hard my entire life - 40 years of uninterrupted employment. My disabilities have robbed me of my ability to work any more. I'm considering donating my plasma and being reimbursed for my time so I can pay for such frivolous things as food, shelter and medical care. I'm sure there are scumbag low life junkies who do this for a fix, but I am not one of them and find the above comments to be highly offensive.
