Cowboy Jack’s was recently named at a hotspot in the recent increase in COVID cases, so perhaps their closing is COVID related. Who knows?
Those aren't permanent closures per the article. Those places were always s***shows before COVID and the riots. The owners cite "unsafe environments" but I wonder how much of that is due to the large numbers of people they regularly overserved. A friend used to live near Cowboy Slims and there were always fights outside of it.

I understand that originally this was a list of restaurants closed permanently due to COVID, however two things seem to changed since the thread was started.

First, the civil unrest has compounded the stresses placed on the restaurant industry to the point where it is difficult to say which was the main cause of a restaurants closing. In this case, some are saying that they closed to avoid being cited for violating COVID related restrictions. Further, there are those who speculate that the massive civil unrest is at least partly a reaction to being shut in for the virus. The point is that the two issues have become intertwined.

Second, I don’t think we can necessarily take the word of a temporary shutdown at face value. I agree that these two places have long been problem spots and see no reason to accept the owners’ statement as the final word.

If they reopen, we can post that.

Moose? Which one? Moose on Monroe isn’t closing. The Moose bar in Mendota closed at least two years ago.

It’s one place: Moose & Sadie’s. I never heard of it either but I am not at all familiar with hipster coffee shops.

I heard COVID was probably the reason from a bartender friend about Jack’s, luckily they don’t work there. Also said The Kollege Klub in Dinkytown closed because of it too.

LUSH announced that it will remain closed indefinitely due to COVID and diversity concerns. What is interesting about this one is that LUSH, a gay bar, chose to announce their closing and the firing of all their employees on Pride Weekend via a Facebook post! It’s hard to see how they reopen after this fiasco.

Minneapolis' LUSH gay bar kinda laid off all its employees by Facebook... on Pride weekend | City Pages

Did Pazzaluna in DT STP close because of COVID or was it already on the way out? Seems like all the bars on that 7th st strip are still open.
