Name a major U.S. city that isn't overly liberal in 2019.

That may be true, but at least MN has a high bond rating (2nd highest you can get). IL's bond rating is the lowest of all 50 states. I would be more supportive of a relatively high tax state if it's well run like MN. But most high tax states are badly run like CA, IL, and NJ.

Not everything here is well run. My wife applied for a new driver’s license in October to replace her expiring license and still hasn’t received it. The DPS says they’re running behind. Now the paper slip she was given to use is expiring so she is going to have to make another trip to their office. I’m not sure if this is because she requested an enhanced license, but a three month plus wait is unacceptable.

I grew up in Minneapolis. Worked in liberal DFL politics years ago.

What was then liberal is now bordering on communism from what I see.

And to top it off taxes and cold weather. And then hot weather and mosquitos. Did I mention tornados.

I would say stay as far away from there as possible.

I went way south and am very glad I did.

Although Minnesotans are very nice people in general and there are some positives. A great State Fair for example. But then the highway repairs limited to warmer months (all 4-5 of them)

I think Minneapolis is liberal enough that if you're worried about living someplace 'too liberal' you wouldn't want to live here.

Hey, the Twin Cities Metro looks like it exists, socially and politically, in this century! And the amount of distress that seems to cause the bigots and right-wing sociopaths fills me with a strong desire to move there.

Hell, I'll move there this year.

I wish I could afford San Fran just for the weather.

Why would you leave San Fran when you have all the amenities you desire? Not to mention high cost of living, wild fires, earth quakes, mud slides, sink holes, and the enormous homeless population.

I still like the weather......most of the time.

Not a right-wing sociopath nor a bigot. Just an atheist chick who doesn't want to contend with this mess created by extreme liberalism: (way to go San Fran!)

Minneapolis has always been a liberal city, but has taken a further step towards the progressive side in the last handful of years. City elections are about which flavor of liberalism - Democrat, Green, Socialist, etc. Minneapolis uses ranked choice voting which encourages some interesting characters to run.
