So just because they are mostly black does that mean all black people are bad?

I've heard alot of people say things like this recently about the mall flash mob. Alot of this has to do with poverty and lack of fathers in certain inner city communities.

You can't judge a whole race based on the actions of a few people. Just like you can't blame all Germans for what happened in WW2 to the jews and slavs. Bad people come in all colors and ethnic groups.

Your agenda isn't fuzzy to anyone, but I personally think you should knock it off, because it's coming off as hate-mongering.

Yeah! It really would have been a much better outcome if these 200 kids had guns! Then they and the concealed carriers could've had a big shoot out in the food court!

It's a shame that news stations in other cities are kind of reporting this story for their 'on the lighter side' segments for some yuk-yuks...as if this is some sort of silly prank pulled by young Minnesota shoppers (thinking that everyone in Minnesota is some combo of Rose Nylund, Garrison Keillor, Tammy Faye Bakker, etc)...it does surprise me how many people think of Minneapolis as some quaint town like Grand Marais or International Falls rather than a diverse metro area with urban issues like anywhere else...

I must say though that their security is only as good as the qualifications they hire with - if you're paying them 8 bucks an hour, they aren't going to care - if you hire law enforcement students from Mpls Community College, for example, and you credit some of their work experience towards their degree, you'll get much better quality security, with incentive to actually do something - not to mention confront anyone who is behaving inappropriately. It always surprised me that whether it was the Mall of America or City Center, security is either hiding somewhere so they don't have to 'deal with them' or they act like it's not happening. In downtown Detroit, where there are some signs of retail life, the security is massive and extremely convincing - if you're not there to buy something and they see you hassling people for money or acting like an idiot - they'll get you out of there so fast you'll forget your name. In Minneapolis and Duluth, they're too afraid, and the crooks know it. That's why they plow through the malls and raid the hospital ER's for percocet and xanax. Anyone tells them no and they'll threaten to sue.

Where do you get this notion from? If it's true, all that tells me is how f'ing stupid most of this country is -- like I needed any more evidence!

I was walking past an escalator in Rosedale the other day and nearly walked into a radio controlled toy helicopter - flying right at eye level! I was quite surprised. Turned out a young father nearby was demonstrating it to his 4 year old boy, and was still learning the controls.

My guess is that MOA marketing department was behind the whole thing. Hey, it's the day after Xmas, everybody's bored... what better way to attract attention to an otherwise lackadaisical post holiday shopping mall than host a riot? Now MOA is famous again, with trending topics worldwide! Ridiculous, you say? Hey, they let Ahnold trash the megamall...

In other news, some 3 year old kid got shot in his home a few blocks away from me, from a stray bullet fired in the alley. He died about a day later from the injury.

I hope that goes without saying. Giving money to people for not doing a damn thing over the long haul ruins them and their culture. That formula to fail works with any color and culture.

What about unemployment compensation? Do you know how many people are getting that subsidy right now? Or is it just food stamps and section 8 that ruin cultures?

On average, 99 weeks of unemployment has helped people become lazy. It's ruining the persons work ethic (and to some degree) their specific family culture. Taking 99 weeks of unemployment (and wanting more extensions) will set people up for longer term failure. Who wants to hire someone who has been out of work for 99 weeks? Not me! 99 weeks of unemployment speaks volumes about that person.

Let's re-wind to 1985. Unemployment for technical people was high. If I remember correctly, over 30 percent of MN engineers and technicians were unemployed (I was one of them). Control Data, Sperry, Honeywell and other big players were laying off by the hundreds. The job market for technical people was dismal!

After the unemployment dried up, we had four options: Switch careers, starve, move, or start a business. Many chose to start a new business. There were hundreds of small high-tech businesses that were started in MN during the mid 80's. Those companies now employee thousands of people.

Look at it like a forest fire: Sometimes setbacks bring out the best in nature. Setbacks can help people chose a different (better) direction as well. It did for me.

When neighborhoods are full of people getting free money, that culture will produce people that I don't want to be around. So I'm not exactly surprised that a 100-200 teens who want a free concert to Lil'Wayne, won't hesitate to steal from you or me. Their culture doesn't have a moral compass.
