I think you missed cixcell's point. He's from CA, so he is a good judge of which place seems more or less happy or miserable.

People often seem to get that a miserable person doesn't have to be the depressed, self-pitying type. The way that a large # of people act towards others, with the rudeness, aggression, narcissism and the fact that so many people here live way above their means to try to maintain a celebrity wannabe lifestyle tells me that deep down, they're not only miserable, but also highly insecure. Such people project their misery outward by taking it out on others, or by spending money they don't have or trying to be like a celerity, rather than taking a long, hard look at themselves and how they choose to treat others.

Doesn't take a psychology major to figure that one out.

Miami is very competitive to many otyher cities and areas in USA and in the World too.
Why you try to demonize Miami???????
Sorry to burst your bubble Angel, but here are the REAL statistics when it comes to MIA:

List of busiest USA airports (boardings)
1. ATL with 42M
2. ORD with 31M
3. LAX with 28M
4. ....
5. ....
14. MIA with 16M

List of busiest USA airports (passengers)
1. ATL with 88M
2. ORD with 64M
3. LAX with 56M
4. ...
5. ...
12. MIA with 16M

List of busiest WORLD cargo airports
1. Memphis with 3.6 Million Metric Tonnes
2. HK with 3.4 Million Metric Tonnes
3. Shanghai with 2.5 Million Metric Tonnes
4. ...
5. ...
12. MIA with 1.5 Million Metric Tonnes

List of busiest USA cargo airports
1. Memphis
2. Ted Stevens in Anchorage
3. Louisville
4. MIA

Not so competitive in my opinion....considering that we have spent billions of dollars on the new terminal.....and it still feels like a third world airport...

I agree, each one of us is different, we each may like different things and so will have different opinions. One persons worst City to live may be perfect for the next person. So it really is subjective.

"The metro area with the most foreclosure filings (171,704) and fifth-highest rate (7.1%) last year is Miami, which ranks No. 2 on our list of Most Miserable Cities. The good weather and lack of a state income tax are the only things that kept Miami out of the top spot. In addition to housing problems (prices are down 50% over three years), corruption is off the charts, with 404 government officials convicted of crimes this decade in South Florida. Factor in violent crime rates among the worst in the country and long commutes, and it's easy to understand why Miami has steadily moved up our list, from No. 9 in 2009 to No. 6 last year to the runner-up spot this year."

Why do towns mention a sports team when telling people who they are? I found it funny that they included one town as a one sports team town. If there were no sports teams in Charlotte at all, it would still be a beautiful town. Sports is what you do when there is nothing else to do. We watch NASCAR, but that is not necessary either. You are really getting to the bottom of the barrel when sports is all you have.

Did you know that complaining makes a person die. Count your blessings and make yourself happy.

Well, making this battle a little bit more hilarious....if you look at the map of United States of America, Florida looks to be the penis of America and California the butts. Which one do you preffer to live in?

And besides, who cares how much cargo goes through the airport? What does that have to do with a misery index? I doubt the people of Memphis are walking around with big smiles on their faces thinking, "Wow, we have the busiest cargo airport in the world".
One thing I saw interesting in the numbers posted above was the difference between "passengers" and "boardings". I notice that "passengers" is always about double "boardings" -- except for Miami where they are equal. Does anyone know the definition of "passengers" and "boardings"? Do the Miami numbers indicate that most of the passengers are only going one way?
