Been looking for a house in Maine for 2 years and have become concerned about some of the legislation being introduced at the state level and the attempt to keep Trump off the ballot in November. Then this article came out today.

Regardless how you feel about this media outlet, it can't be denied that the lean toward the left is happening.

What I meant to add and didn't is I'm curious to hear if/how Mainers in smaller cities and towns feel the impact in some ways of this issue. I love Maine for all it is and would be sad to see it change in any dramatic way. Would love to hear from local residents, life long Mainers and recent transplants.

I would recommend that you look at voting results of various counties in various elections.

First of all, remember what Socrates once said, "Look not for truth on Fox News."

To answer your overall question, Maine is a lot like most states: The cities lean blue, the rural areas lean red, and there is a lot of purple scattered everywhere. We have friends on both sides, because that is the thing about Maine: Treat people with respect and courtesy, and 99% of them will treat you the same way. If you can't talk politics without getting heated, you just don't talk about it. Talk about the weather or your kids or pot holes or your favorite Sturgill Simpson song.

I understand I can do that and I have. That's not what I'm asking about. I'm asking what folks who live in small towns away from Portland are feeling and experiencing with regard to these issues.

Thank you for weighing in. I appreciate what you're saying and that's exactly my approach, but I also hope to meet folks who are like-minded. I left Vermont and won't go back because of the hard left turn/policies and liberals shaming anyone who doesn't agree with their beliefs. It used to be more balanced. And I wouldn't want to live in California, WA or OR, despite there being plenty of areas that are more balanced even conservative, but who suffer at the hands of the liberal policies.

My concern is that the left leaning policies in Maine are, in fact, not representative of what most Mainers believe/want for their state and this will only get worse.

The right does the same. Maine is a live and let live state for the most part. The right wants to control, the rest want everyone else to mind their own business. You probably won't get many answers to which side of the two-headed monster anyone claims because long ago, we were taught that religion, sex, and politics are personal. Being the oldest state in the nation, a lot of us still adhere to that rule of civility.

That's the most I've said about politics in a long time. That's enough of that.

Curious to hear of the suffering you describe. How does it affect their day to day lives? Maine and other states may very well be that impactful.
