This area of LA is not particularly known for good food. UL-Monroe is a regional University - I don’t know that there is anything that really stands out or sets itself apart from other similar universities. It does have a pharmacy school though.

Yep, well said. Just like ULL in south LA.

Monroe is world famous as the home of Duck Dynasty. You can snicker at their beards and bayou ways, but they are no country bumpkins with regards to how to succeed in a business that they really enjoy at the same time. They should offer a class about that topic at the University!

I am still not sure on the workaround for the social aspect of living in Monroe. I finally moved into the town and the reality of most of the people I met running around errands with heavy country accent finally kicked in.

I'm guessing most arrogant snobs won't enjoy Monroe, but my brother has been there for 45 years and loves it. I'm shocked at how many mansions I see in my brother's neighborhood, there's evidently a lot of money coming from somewhere.

Keep in mind that bayous and Cajun culture are primarily in the southern part of the state. I’m fairly certain ULM offers an entrepreneurship course.

Its not snobbish to say that many consider this part of the state to be the least desirable.

Looking down on a group of people because of their accent is arrogant and snobby to me.

North Louisianans typically have more of a southern accent, not a Cajun accent. The accent in the southern part of the state is distinctly different from that in the northern part.

It is interesting, the accents of Louisiana, no? Then you have New Orleans which has its own distinct accent and dialect.

Accents may differ slightly in the southern part of the state, but as a whole, they are quite similar and not that reflective of southern U.S. accents. The northern part of Louisiana is much more reflective of the southern U.S., inclusive of accent.
