You're just someone who is very bitter about the state, about the South in general and also about rural areas. You seem to have a negative opinion of Livingston Parish, Ponchatoula, and Alexandria as well. It seems like New Orleans is the only place in Louisiana you like and even so didn't you move to Atlanta?

I'm not bitter at all, I'm realistic. I've experienced many places around the country, and the world and Louisiana provides a very low quality of life for its citizens. Unless all you care about is fishing with your neighbor and sitting on the boat with a beer, most people are experiencing crime, poverty, and lack of opportunities, etc. Which you always dismiss and use your personal experiences and preferences. I've already conceded that many people are content or actually happy in Louisiana but that's not the reality of a state that ranks near last in all quality of life metrics.
I have a negative opinion about Livingston, its known as the racist parish in the metro. It's full of Republicans, who I disagree with on 97% of things. I also don't feel safe there, I feel safer on Plank Rd than in some parts of Livingston parish.
I don't have a negative opinion of Ponchatoula, I believe you mentioned something about Ponchatoula being a quaint town, which it's far from being. That one block in its downtown isn't worth mentioning to anyone.
My comments on Alexandria are likely honest comments, not unwarranted bashing. Alexandria is a poor small town with no real economic opportunities. Go and ask young people there about it.
I love my whole state, but I cannot live in a place so poor and gutted of socio-economic opportunities, I don't see why you can't understand that. And I criticize it heavily because I want it to be better, I would love to be able to come back home and not be around murder and poverty.

Atlanta? My location has been Denver on this website for 4 and a half years now.

And no, saying that a young woman isn't going to find a cultured and worldly man in Monroe isn't hate, its honest. You probably won't find a juggling Roma in your neighborhood either.

For Heaven's sake! My experience with that lovely town seems to differ from that of others. Monroe has some incredibly cultured and refined people. In the better milieus there, the accents are picture-perfect, and people are amazingly nice.

There's big money there, and old money, too. Some of the money is big and old. Maybe that's why people are so refined.

And the men are gorgeous. Many outstanding examples are Breton-German hybrids, and I could go on, but it wouldn't be G-rated to say...

Just find the right gym, and you will be surrounded by beautiful men. It's all about finding the right part of town, and the right gym (and maybe joining the Country Club).

Delta Airlines was started in Monroe, with individuals from Monroe and Vicksburg, MS (same family that was the first to bottle Coca Cola). That money in Monroe is probably related to Coke and Delta, plus oil money perhaps as many of those families used their Coke and Delta fortunes to go into the oil business.

According to bestneighborhoods.org, the rich neighborhoods in Monroe are River Oaks and Park Avenue, near the river just north of downtown, and a handful of neighborhoods skirting the north side of West Monroe.

I have a friend who went to UL Monroe and was very happy there. It's all about the friends you make, and having a university provides that venue.

In checking google maps, the northern part of West Monroe is deeply wooded with rolling hills (see Comanche Trail road as an example), with a number of lakes and many nice homes. This may not necessarily be a rich town these days but there are some very pretty areas. It's quite evident on google maps street view. The thing to do is try and connect with groups associated with the university.

I used to live in Lake Charles, which is a larger area than Monroe and Ruston. Was never able to find a compatible partner.
