Their teachers are in UNIONS too and they are compensated on a similar level of that of other LI teachers no matter how poorly the school district performs, so the property taxes are high no matter how little the homes are worth.
It's not a meritocracy. That's the "beauty" of being allowed to set whatever compensation you want and have the power to simply take as much as you want from your employer (the school district's taxpayers).
