Less traffic and less crowding is a positive it seems no?

Amazon average wage was 125k. Huge benefit for the community.

46k? Uber/Uber eats isn’t far behind that based hourly wage.

I’ll be up front I read the application and it seems like there’s possible medical/dental/401k/pto/vacation plan which would make up for the lower wages. But I just saw that today and no one mentioned that to offset the lower wages here. We will see what the actual package is.

My biggest argument is Suffolk could have said ok you want the tax break give us x if the engineer jobs you are leaving in China. We could at least try and pull in higher paying jobs.

Here’s the full application. The average wage of the company does decrease by 50 percent with the increase of jobs.

Again what do you expect. I posted the average college grad wages in NY and they aren’t all that much higher for entry level jobs. This isn’t Amazon which is a trillion dollar company which sought to build an east coast HQ full of white collar jobs. Ridiculous comparison. This is a smaller company worth like 100 million. Amazon makes that in a day. Are they supposed to pay 75,000, heck how about 100 for an entry level factory job! Because that won’t lead to bankruptcy. Also Uber and “gig” jobs don’t have benefits. This job does.

You posted for NY state as a whole, including the upstate region where COL and wages are significantly lower. I've seen estimates for NYC college grads making $78k to $140k on average.

$47k is poverty for LI where studios rent for over $2k a month, and mortgages start at over $4k.

lol nope. Average college grad salary for NYC is 68k. And that’s NYC. LI would almost certainly be a few grand lower. So you expect a small company to pay an unskilled factory worker with no degree as much as a college graduate?

Remember we are talking entry level salaries here

Since when do entry level salaries come close to meeting the crazy cost of living rates here? This is nothing new.

Another company to Florida that Long Island wants to keep.

https://www.newsday.com/business/air...r-ida-b4xdo09f

I don’t agree with it so much but at least this company has double the salary for their jobs.

“ AAR Corp., with shares traded on the New York Stock Exchange, reported a profit of $90.2 million for the year ended May 31, 2023, on sales of $2 billion. Besides Garden City and Miami, the company has more than 60 facilities around the globe and about 5,000 employees, according to securities filings.”

They don’t really need a tax break but everyone is leaving so there’s no other way to convince people to stay than give the tax breaks.

Höchul & friends are really starting to panic the loss of taxpayers. Like, you know it’s bad now that they are acknowledging it, so in reality, it’s probably worse.
But whatever. It’s NY. Government vs. NIMBY’s. One big pisssing match. They all want but only on their own terms. And nothing good ever happens. Wash, rinse, repeat.
