Not lately. Have you looked at property taxes on new builds in NYC? 900 sq foot condos in Brooklyn are paying $7K+. Comparatively speaking LI taxes seem fair for what you get. Better safety. Better infrastructure. Better schools.

Compared to the rest of the country LI taxes are indeed ridiculous.

IDK why people complain about police taxes. They are irrelevant compared to the absurd school taxes.

I’m at 70 percent. I don’t even get much use from the school district as other neighbors who send an army of 6 kids to school.

Families should be able to cut it in half if they opt for private schools. Messed up system.

Simple solution is eliminating all school district Superintendents and assistant to the assistant positions.

Create one schools chancellor like NYC (One thing they did right)

Privatize all district non teaching positions. You should not be getting a 6 figure pension for plowing a school lot or being a janitor. Some of these employees earn 3 times there salary in Overtime with limited to no supervision.

This is unsustainable.

Legally hard.... as each district is its own legal entity.

Civil service rules prevent the 2nd

Yep that’s the problem, it’s not a “simple” solution at all
