I am curious to how much the average ironworker earns.

On the Local 40 & 361 website, the starting salary is $28/hr for an apprentice which lasts three years. I'm curious to the salary after graduating to a full journey person and how long it would take to reach top pay and what top pay is currently at.

The reasoning for post, I know of some ironworkers that seem to be doing well and the unions seem to provide decent wages and benefits for someone to raise a family on Long Island.

Are any of you an ironworker or familiar with the salary and benefit packages?

I was a local 361 Ironworker.

Why don't you just call up the Local 40 & 361 headquarters ( I think it's either on 5th Ave. or Park Ave. ) and ask them?

Bumping up a 4 year old thread sure does go a long way towards that goal.

Iron working is probably one of the most arduous jobs out there.

Still? I know the industry was loaded with them during the great bridge building days 1930's-60's
