I am curious to how much the average ironworker earns.
On the Local 40 & 361 website, the starting salary is $28/hr for an apprentice which lasts three years. I'm curious to the salary after graduating to a full journey person and how long it would take to reach top pay and what top pay is currently at.
The reasoning for post, I know of some ironworkers that seem to be doing well and the unions seem to provide decent wages and benefits for someone to raise a family on Long Island.
Are any of you an ironworker or familiar with the salary and benefit packages?
local 40 ironworkers as of january 2014 period 81, make 46.75 after taxes as a journeysman. foreman makes 47.75. this is after the 3 year apprenticeship. so sick of seeing wrong answers and undirect stuff on youtube and google.

Bumping up a 4 year old thread sure does go a long way towards that goal.
Still? I know the industry was loaded with them during the great bridge building days 1930's-60's
