Hi, terri_in_nj. You can see what our Tellico Village kayaking club does at www.tvsoggybottom.org. There are 4 nice boat ramps within 10 minutes of my house (which isn't on the water); one of them is just 2 minutes away.

Your comment about meeting people is exactly our thought when we moved here 6 years ago. There are many, many interest groups, and most of the people here have moved here from someplace else. The property owner's association at tvpoa.net has lots of information, as well as links to many of the interest groups. (Some of these have wonderful photos.)

There is an online map of the village (not sure how well it shows up) at
tellicorealty.net/information/tellico-village/location

We love it here (moved from New England), and would love to have another canoe/kayak person in our community.

Thanks for all the encouragement. We'll be traveling to Tennessee the spring and spending some time looking at likely places. Sounds like a lot of friendly people around there.

Try this website: Tellico Village Online. The most desirable (newer areas) are at the north end (Coyatee is one of the best) with the location to Lenoir City, Turkey Creek shopping and Knoxville. The neighborhoods at the south end are were developed earlier and have older homes mixed in with newer ones. All neighborhoods have to drive to the Wellness Center, pool and tennis courts, but it is only a 5 minute drive from the northern neighborhoods. It's a great time to buy now with the housing market and Tellico is continuing to grow. As far as the lake, some homes have "common areas" and will allow lake access for a canoe, kayak, etc. There are public boat ramps and boat slips available through Tellico Village POA for a very reasonable price (for motor boats and personal watercraft). There is a park/beach area with a pavillion for residents only and a dog park for residents only. The weather is very tolerable with very little snow (if it does snow, it melts within a few hours!). This is a link to the MLS listings: Find Homes By Area. Click on Loudon County on the map, then put in your search criteria. Hope this helps!

Here is a link to check out all the clubs: Tellico Village | Tellico Village Loudon County TN | Knoxville Planned Residential Community | Tellico Village Golf Course | Tellico Lake Community | Tennessee Yacht Club | Tellico Village Lenior City TN | Tellico Lake Boating (http://tvpoa.net/links/ - broken link). There are a ton of things to do, but you can do as little or as much as you'd like. There is also a group called "New Villagers" which is just for people who have moved here and gives you an opportunity to meet other new people and do all kinds of activities. It's really a great way to meet other "New Villagers"! Good luck!
