That is a good start. Now, he must............MUST familiarize himself with UK basketball. There is probably a law on this somewhere in the State Statutes.

I was driving back from a trip to Memphis and our car broke down in the middle of the night in a small town in Kentucky. I will never forget how well we were treated by the local cop. He told us, the local mechanic would not be open for hours and to just stay in the car and he would stop by every hour to make sure we were safe and get us to the mechanic in the AM. I have never met someone so kind.

Nice story! I read an article that said people from Kentucky are the friendliest people in the country. It seems true! Everyone I talked to here is wonderful!
Thanks to all of you for your kind comments. Yes, I think for the most part we are happy and proud of our heritage. I also think being a Kentuckian has more to do with your state of mind rather than actual location. I have met people who have left Kentucky years ago in search of jobs and most of them still call themselves Kentuckians. To be fair, I have also met people who have lived here all of their lives and hate it.
I think " hate or love it" is in any state. It probably also depends on what you want in life. Im not a night person, do the club scene or need sports or lots of friends or a crazy social life filled with dining and being out and about. Some people need that excitement and when they cant find it they hate it. I have my husband and kids. I need a house I can make a home, a catholic church to spend time in , a big kitchen to cook in, a horse to love and bond with. Thats about it. I dont bother anyone and no one bothers me. Maybe because I lived in Jersey my whole life and my family is from major cities in NJ and Bronx and Brooklyn I crave that quiet solitude where you can breathe clean air, see blue sky, and just be at peace
Then I think rural Ky may be a place you can call home and be happy. I hope you find it.
