We retired to Kentucky from Long Beach, CA - 4 years 5 months ago...we live in Prospect, KY and absolutely love it. Bardstown is a favorite of ours but had we chosen to retire there, we would have missed stores like Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, the wide choice of medical care and the dynamite restaurant scene that we have so close to us....we are about 20 minutes from downtown via River Road which is a beautiful drive from Prospect.

Yes, Murray is a good area, very close to the Land between the Lakes. Summer temperatures are a bit hotter than I'd like. I also like the Cumberland Plateau area of TN because it's little less than an hour to Knoxville but higher elevation/milder weather.

In Bardstown , what is the elevation? Im partial to cooler weather but from what I read its similar to Jersey weather.

Elevation in Bardstown is right around 650ft. The Cumberland Plateau is right around 1800ft.
