Yes please let's not advertise. Send them to Boise I'm one that is NOT a fan of change. Don't lecture me about "change is gonna happen so get over it". Just hoping those that are the Boise types stick with that place and leave us conservatives alone.

I wouldn't expect very much here to stay the same for very long.

There's no need to advertise or to try keep Idaho a secret; it's now a very bright spot on the national radar, has been for a decade, and growing only brighter. We cannot put that rabbit back in the hat.

And none of us should expect things to stay the same when 1,000 newcomers a month are moving in.

I'm not lecturing. I really don't give a hoot if you get over it or not. That many new people is simply bound to change Idaho. If they have different politics, who knows? You may be overwhelmed or not; it's one of those things you cannot predict nor expect.

Being left alone, though, is as much a state of mind as it is anything. So the newcomers could either drive you crazy or they could become your best friends. Or no big deal.

It's all in how you will view them after they arrive.

How is it that you move to a place from out of state, and then you want to tell other people they can't move to the same place?

By the way, I grew up in the Magic Valley. I know Hagerman and Buhl and all of those little towns quite well. There is no concern that those towns are all of a sudden going to have a population explosion. Most of them are, at best, sustaining population but some are losing population. Those closer to Twin Falls will grow, no doubt.

Small towns and rural populations are shrinking, and the US is urbanizing. The reason is first and foremost jobs and agglomeration, but also cultural and recreational opportunities that small towns don't have.

That's not an indictment on small town life - I think many people would actually prefer it if they could work from home or have access to a stable job. But that's just less and less the case. And so for every retiree that may move to Hagerman, you have a handful of kids who move out to go to college or to find a job, and usually don't come back.

To be specific I am very conservative, as are virtually all the folks I've run into and spoken to in town. I'd like to KEEP it that way. Too late for Boise, they are already infected by Socialistic Leftism. That is perhaps one of the largest reasons I moved here. They are indeed MY people

Hey let is shrink. We don't need more than the most basic of jobs to keep the minimal number of businesses afloat here. Nothing more thank you. Don't want it to be a magnet anymore than it already is. As it is in the summer we get more than our share of boaters, fishermen and such due to the River.

I'm totally fine with the kids getting their education and heading for so called greener pastures of higher paying jobs. It's a very personal thing but to me less is MORE. Sorry if it comes off selfish, but at this stage of my life I'm interested in little more than good neighbors, peace and QUIET! There sure isn't much of that elsewhere

Yeah, I don't care about all of that. I'm more interested in why you think you have a right to shut the door behind you, when you only moved to Hagerman a few years ago.

Fact of the matter is anyone who wants to move to Hagerman can, left or right, rich or poor. Your opinion on that doesn't mean anything.

Also, you might do well to actually study your Idaho (and Gooding County) history... you might be surprised to find that Hagerman hasn't always been "very conservative." I'm sure Banjo can back me up on that.

Me thinks as we get older we would preferr things to stay the same. It's like these computers and cellphones (technology). They are changing so fast I'm not able to keep up with them and also lose interest in doing so.

So there are the Boise types and there is another type?

All I want is privacy, peace and quiet with little to no traffic.

So it is called the "Magic Valley"? Those little towns have a low population or the population density is low?
I gather then there is more snowfall in these small towns in East Idaho area compared to Boise

Where in Boise they are suppose to use a different kind of chemical to cover their light snowfall so it doesn't eat the bottom of the cars in Boise?

Twin Falls, Pocatello and Idaho Falls (East Idaho areas)?Have harsher weather and more snow?
I just want more privacy, less to little noise and traffic.
