Hi I know this thread hasnt been posted in a few days, but you were only talking about Boise. I have a possible job offer at the airport in Hailey Idaho in the Sun Valley. I am thinking about moving from Alabama. I am white so i dont care so much about the racism for myself, but my wife is black and she is pregnent with our child. Due to the lack of diversity i was concerned about my child growing up being hated , I appreciate anyones answer on the subject

One thing that most of us neglect to realize is that with the exception of the Native Indians, we are all immigrants. We all came to this country at different times, but very likely under the same circumstances. So just because a person does not speak English, it certainly does not make them less of an American.

And there's pretty strong evidence that the Navajo at one time immigrated from Asia across the land bridge that once existed. We truly are a nation of immigrants, even some classed as native weren't at one time.

I feel pretty confident in saying that a person is more apt to see or experience racism in Seattle, Portland, San Fran, and basically any other large city. Racism is rampant in large cities.

There is no more racism in Idaho than any other state in the union. Actually there is probably less racism in Idaho than most other states.
Boise has a fast growing ethnic population and there are a few international refugee offices here. A lot of newcomers from Bosnia, Africa, Russia, Turkey are placed in Boise because it is one of the best cities in America for the newcomers to adjust to American Life, and the population here is very accepting and caring.
I am impressed at the amount of ethnic groceries and restaurants opening around the Boise Metro Area.

Of course there will be a few bad racist apples but they are everywhere.
Idaho has a live and let live attitude (I have mentioned this before). East Idaho and North Idaho are also gaining ethnic populations and are accepting as well.

Oh well, my mistake. Your statement about everyone being immigrants just seemed that way. Sorry about that.
