Rathdrum Prairie Comprehensive Plans

Comprehensive Plans used to be commonly known as "Master Plans", and detail a government agency's vision of how their jurisdiction will grow into the future. Comprehensive Plans look into the future for several decades and act as a guide for government sub-agencies in how to allow development. Of course, things change and the farther out from when a plan was adopted, the more inaccurate it will be. Still, they are useful for getting a glimpse of where a city/region is headed. Comprehensive Plans are generated by, and approved by the government agency with input from their Planning Department, outside consultation companies, and with input from the jurisdiction's residents. It is a long, involved process which takes years to complete. Once approved and adopted, it acts as the controlling document on future growth.

Below are links to the Comprehensive Plans for the incorporated cities on the Rathdrum Prairie, as well as the one for Kootenai County. Some are downloadable in the form of a PDF file, others are interactive pages on the government's web site.

Wow, this is some fantastic piece of work. Now, if only something like this existed for the "Southern Tier" of the state, that would be utterly awesome! Unfortunately I don't live there, so I wouldn't be much help at this point. Maybe down the road it will happen!

Default How To Pay Property Tax Online For Idaho

Note: This can be done for most counties in Idaho.

Bonner Country:
Treasurer | Bonner County Government Web Site

The last two sentences in the first paragraph at the above link will have a direct link to make a payment or a link for additional information to make a Property Tax payment via Official Payments.

Note: It is possible the below links may not work after a certain amount of time since I noticed that they use a "session Id". If that is the case select the above link or click Here and select "Local Payments".

Online Payment Fee Calculator: (Via Official Paments Website)

The Help Page:
https://www.officialpayments.com/hp_home.jsp?JSESSIONID=pQhKJr2QD292SDc!-403701336!1600032889

The Payment Fee Calculator: - you can also continue to make your Property Tax payment through the fee calculator.

Default Winter Driving Help

if you are traveling in the Northwest over the next few days, weeks, or months, the Idaho Transportation Department, Washington State Department of Transportation, and Oregon Department of Transportation all offer tools to make your trips safer. In addition to traffic cameras, there are mountain pass conditions, traffic alerts, and more.

ITD: http://511.idaho.gov/
WSDOT: Washington 511 - Home Page
ODOT: TripCheck - Oregon Traveler Information

ITD says between Bald Mountain and the Montana State Line (63 to 98 miles east of the Kooskia area - look out for slush on the roadway. Be prepared for light snow. There is danger of a rock fall).

NOTE: The link to the City of Hayden Comprehensive Plan that I provided in post #11 above is invalid.

This is a better source. PDF links to the "Hayden Vision Statement", maps, and "2008 Comprehensive Plan" can be found at the bottom of this web page:

Hayden Comprehensive Plan

Sorry for any confusion. All other links in the post above are still valid, as of March 1, 2016.

Default Shiba

Idaho is a growing state. It attracts retirees from other states who wish to spend the balance of their allocated years in an area which is different than what they know. Assuming that these 'immigrants' are Medicare eligible, (i.e., 65 or older), and that in this country, the medical industry is a state-by-state administration, obtaining useful medical information is difficult.

Every state government sponsors a volunteer organization tasked with helping new seniors navigate the medical industry in their state. In Idaho, it is called "SHIBA", which stands for Senior Health Insurance Benefit Advisors. It is a statewide organization directed by the State of Idaho Department of Insurance.

This should be your first stop in arranging medical insurance. They have an office in Coeur d'Alene, (I do not know of other NID locations, but a phone call to SHIBA will give you that information). They also give a no-cost, ($5 donation recommended), "Medicare 101" class at the KROC center, usually on the last Tuesday of every month from 1:00-3:30 p.m. (Call the KROC Center to verify current schedule).

Senior Health Insurance Benefit Advisors
I attended the "Medicare 101" talk today at the Kroc Center. They have changed the day and time of the lecture to the last Friday of a month, 1:00-3:00 p.m. Very highly recommended if you are approaching age 65 and have not figured out the Medicare "system" yet. The person who gives the talk is also willing to stay afterward and answer questions for as long as needed.
