Some of the modern 4x4 SUVs are/were just as capable and long life as the older ones. I banged an H3 throughout almost every nasty trail in Moab and Ouray and only two items I ever broke (other than tires) were two rear shocks. And had to replace a few shields; engine, trans, and fuel at least once.

I did have some friends who blew front axle drive shaft or tie rods, but those were easy to replace right at the spot of breakage. Between the half dozen or more who went out, we always carried extra parts; just in case. Jeepers did it too.

As for minivans. The first one was fugly, the current ones are fugly. I have never seen a minivan I didn't hate.

I see no one has mentioned the Aztek!

The Aztek evidently does great in the desert around Albuquerque.

The first time I saw one, I broke out laughing in the parking lot! The Aztec was Pontiac's worst mistake ever. I remember someone calling it looking like an evil kitchen appliance with maliciousness on its mind.

I had a good friend in TN who's wife had a black Aztec. The interior was actually quite nice. He explained to me that when he was forced to drive it, he just kept his eyes closed until the got inside, then put on a mask so no one would recognize him.

And, he had Onstar.....which people like or dislike but for Azteks it was a great feature....

I actually think the Aztek did more for the lesbian movement in the USA than the Obama administration, and that is saying a LOT! All three are an abomination actually and I'm not sure how I would rank them as such.

The Aztek is one reason that I would never buy a GM vehicle. For anything that horrible to make it to the market is an indication of how messed up that company is. Well, that and the fact that my first vehicle was a 1984 Fiero.

It's amazing how much mileage you can get out of a car thread, even in a "places to live" forum...pun intended.

Fugly cars/trucks are not just a GM thing. Heck I have driven GM for years and honestly no problems, just normal maintenance. What's fugly to one person is not necessarily fugly to another. Heck, just look at the Pinto, Mustang II original Taurus/Sable (new Taurus is ok), or the Chrysler PT Cruise or Dodge Caliber, and who can forget the AMC Gremlin and Pacer (or course AMC is gone), Subaru Brat, etc. Heck, even Aston Martin did the Lagonda.

As for the Lesbian movement, I cannot even fathom an answer to that!

Apparently chemists and drug lords prefer them.

Storage is important, and they can be had cheaply.

I don't do anything GM since the shafting Obama gave the shareholders with his bailout.

Personally for Idaho driving, i would prefer a Bradley Fighting Vehicle to run red lights with.
