moved to SoFla by choice after 33 years in California.

Year round warm weather with a sophisticated, cosmopolitan urban setting with more bang for your buck than NY or CA coastal cities with fewer problems (much less homeless, slightly less traffic, cleaner air, more clean cut and well dressed populace). Most beautiful women in the country, hub airport with direct access to other Southern and Eastern cities, Caribbean, South America and Europe, great nightlife and top flight restaurants.

I am fortunate to live in a highly walkable section of Miami and only drive 4K miles/year, minimizing my interaction with crappy drivers except when crossing the street. Weather has been an asset (breezes off of Biscayne Bay serve as a natural fan and the summers are not as bad as some make out IF you live in coastal SoFla.).

Well if you are super rich you can have a nice life there. Otherwise just do not do it. Do not move there.

How do you define “super rich?”...If I were super rich, which I am not, I would be living on Fisher Island or Palm Beach.

Yes, because everyone is lucky enough to have both a swimming pool and a boat! GAG.

If I were super rich, I'd live in Manhattan or, better yet, if ultra rich, London.

Miami/Fort Lauderdale is for us middling idiots who can't afford local taxes and heating bills.

I don't believe he was saying that everyone should have or has a boat and a pool. I certainly don't. But if one wanted to or was able to have them, this is the place to be. And for those that have that. all power to them. You sound bitter. I'm sorry about that.

So much about living in South Florida is amazing.

Actually the only downside is the crime.
