Gawd, anyone can make any area look nice if they edit the photos they take. These photos of Fort Lauderdale don't tell it all! Where are all the photos of the ugly strip malls that line Broward, Sunrise and Broward Boulevards, the "Gateways" to Fort Lauderdale? Where are the photos of the mostly empty of businesses Riverwalk shopping complex that's right downtown where thousands of apartment and condo units have been built in the past few years? It's easy to take photos of nice looking houses and apartment buildings but where are the photos of those run-down green housing project buildings just off Broward Boulevard? Why not show a some real photos of what it's like here to sit in traffic because the county hasn't figured out how to sync the traffic lights, no matter how much they spend to try to fix their system? I can go to Detroit and take some photos of some flower beds to make that city look like it's a wonderful place to live so don't believe what you see in photos of Fort Lauderdale. It's not a true picture!

First, I'd like to thank everyone for posting some excellent photos here. Looks like a lot of people enjoy them.

I, for one, think these photos are a welcome change from the typical "Broward is a third-world ghetto hellhole full of trashy people and thugs" generalizations that proliferate on this board. Yes, Fort Lauderdale -- like any large urban area -- has unattractive areas. But there are dozens of negative threads and they are more appropriate for the above post.

Or better yet, since everyone is entitled to equal time, why not show some initiative, go out and take some pictures of the areas you don't like, start a thread called "The ugly pictures of Fort Lauderdale" and post the photos? It might even inspire a few people who see them to get involved in the community and try to make things better.
