Question for those of you who know Imperial Point. My kids go to Westminister Academy - I hope the area doesn't become too dangerous. What do you think? I drive through some areas of town that have gone down hill -- like the other poster said, there is an increase in the number of vacant homes.

What is the website for real stats on bad areas in Broward? A few months ago someone on this site posted the link with a map of these areas with incident reports for each month by city -- does anyone know of this link?

They all look the same, burglary, auto theft, burglary, burglary, burglary over and over and over again, in all areas. They are useless as a risk assessor. Just go visit the neighborhood for yourself at night and see if it's a place you would want to live. Very few neighborhoods around here are bad enough that you can't even drive through them. Where do you live now, if you don't mind me asking? On the other hand, no neighborhoods are wholly spared from property crimes such as burglary.

You are right on the burglary stats - I found two sites. Check out Spotcrime.com - there is a link for Ft Lauderdale. Also found sites for Pompano, Deerfield Beach, and Coral Springs. There are maps.

A map of your area (wherever you live) I almost guarantee would reveal the same thing unless you live in a rural or more sparsely populated area. People think there is "no crime" where they live only because they are ignorant, not because it's true. Low crime does not mean no crime.

Also, that spotcrime map is not accurate at ALL. You would see WAY more crimes west of 95 if it was accurate, plus they are showing the 15 year old who got shot in the leg as being in far west Davie. Don't believe everything you read, don't live in fear, just go by your instincts and live with common sense.

The other problem with Imperial Point is that large, older condo complex behind the big church. It's a haven for crime and drug deals at all times of the day and night.

If you don't mind me asking, is it right off of Commercial right? If it is some of those places gave me off some bad vibes. I don't think the other places on 18th looked that bad.

Yes, I have friends that live in a house directly across the street from that huge complex, and although it looks clean, there is a seedy element there and my friends are constantly calling the police. Westminster is right around the corner from this, and it's getting worse as the older residents die or move out and these thugs move in at the lower prices.

Thanks U4 - yes, that is what we see. The church and school are around the corner. That area has been changing.

And, the home prices are dropping to reflect the change in demographics. Too bad, that was a really nice area once.
