For those of you kind and generous people who are accusing me of lying. I invite you to call Allstate, Geico, Hartford, and a few others. Tell them your zip code is 33629. Tell them you want a quote on a 2024 Honda Accord. I think the coverages were 100/50. Including uninsured motorist (you gotta be crazy to omit this). 500 deductible. Please post your quote here. With the quote confirmation number and name of agent plus their contact info. I’d be thrilled to find anything under 4k a year. Most reputable ins is 6k and up.

And for those of you slinging the additional insults of being a drunk, having lots of accidents, having bad credit, being a bad driver and all the rest, sorry to disappoint you. But I have none of those things. The only time I’ve ever made an insurance claim was for a cracked windshield from a rock hitting it on i75 a few Years ago.

But thanks for your rude and offensive allegations. Perhaps if you keep thinking “oh there must be something wrong he did to get that quote” it might make it true.

Alas no matter how much you sling accusations, the real actual truth is that insurance on a new car (in this case the lowly Honda Accord) in Tampa is highway robbery.

By the way. Your comments about cheap rates on old vehicles do not apply to this discussion. Come to me with proof of a $1500 yearly premium on a 2024 Honda. That is after all what I cited from the get go.

It doesn’t matter than you pay 5 dollars for your 2017 KIA insurance. Tell me what it’s gonna cost on a 2024 accord, and I will go back to these insurance companies and fight.

The fact of the matter is that I have been buying new Honda accords for decades and NEVER has my premium tripled on a new vehicle (compared to the old accord).

Yay Florida.

Guess it’s not a real shock. Why am I shocked? I’m an idiot for being shocked. My homeowners insurance keeps going up by the thousands a year and I have never made a single claim in my life.

Why not leave?

Maine, New Hampshire, & Idaho have the cheapest rates:

Does your partner?

Honestly, $6k is difficult to believe and I use one of the insurers you mentioned. You could be a touch higher in your zip, but not by much. If you’re not maxing out your deductibles that could be a part of the problem too.

I don't disbelieve you, particularly after our homeowners literally attempted to increase our premium 154% last year for no reason. I'm just saying that I'm glad to not be dealing with the absurdity you mentioned, as our premium (despite the 50% increase) is half of what you were quoted, and for 2 newer vehicles (one of which is a pickup that cost me 70k 3-years ago and is used predominantly for work). I put 30-40k miles on a slow year on my truck btw, which also ups the premium. I'd be incensed to find out how that'd scale in your zipcode if what you claim is true.

Are there a lot of vehicle thefts there or something, or huge numbers of claims made? I can't imagine it's just accidents and burglaries, because Ocala is insane with them, lol.

Re: drunk:

If you’re talking about me, I never accused you of being “a drunk.” It was a valid question, followed by “2 beers can get you DUI.”
I asked about this specifically because years ago it happened to me, and I barely drink. I was out for happy hour after work, had two beers (didn’t finish the last one) and then got pulled over for a tag light. I smelled of alcohol, got a citation, etc. I was slightly over the limit. Most adults aren’t anywhere near drunk from two beers. But I was nonetheless over. A good attorney got the case thrown out, so I never got the conviction, but the citation still showed up for insurance purposes, and for a while, my insurance was sky high due to being “high risk.”
It was a valid question. But as usual, when questioned or engaged about your threads, you cry about “offensive and rude accusations” and whatnot. If you don’t like the engagement, why start these threads? $6k is bonkers for a Honda, and so we have every right to ask questions, as none of us have these rates, including those of us who currently or have lived in the Tampa area.

I have no idea. And frankly I would have never been informed of how high auto insurance has become here had I not started looking at new cars. It’s a new car thing apparently. My insurance on my previous car was much less.

I just think paying this much to insure ANY year accord is unacceptable. Truly. It’s a boring cheap car!

I think what I’m going to do is take the advice of my insurance broker in law and shop by “which car is cheaper to insure” instead of by make and model. I want to get rid of my old accord bc it’s missing the new safety features.

One of the major reasons I dont buy new cars is because of the excessive insurance rates. We pay $1200/yr for both vehicles, one 2012 honda pilot and one 2009 honda crv.

I have bought 6 Accords in my lifetime and the insurance has usually gone up just a couple hundred dollars. It has never tripled.
