"the median sales price of an existing single-family home last month was $615,000."

"The average sale price on an existing Palm Beach County single-family home in February was $1.03 million."

I'm not sure what the difference is....other than saying people bought the more expensive houses

That’s exactly what it is. And a median in the 600s for such a massive and populated county is crazy.

Excellent point.
Republican used to mean less government.

I’m a registered republican but couldn’t disagree more with the far right and far left.

Too much “us vs them” BS

Historically, I’ve voted for who I thought was best. Not just a straight party ticket.
That makes no sense to me

I rejected all political parties back in the 1970's when I first started voting. I voted for Reagan. But I've been a social liberal and fiscal conservative all my life. Left-leaning moderate, if I had to pin it down. It used to be that you'd find Republicans AND Democrats who embraced the moderate point on the political spectrum. Now, neither do. The Republican party itself is no longer what it was - it's become some warped mutated monster that embraces fascism and government control. The Democratic party is more ensconced in the liberal side of American politics, but other than the "Socialist Democrats" and "Democratic Socialists" - which are a whole nuther political ideology - they still are at least willing to entertain moderate fiscal policy.

I’m telling you as someone who owns a home in Palm Beach County and Simsbury, Connecticut - everything is higher in Florida. Price per square foot, taxes, insurance, maintenance, electricity, groceries. The only thing we save on is income tax (and some various taxes like vehicle tax). The list you’re looking at doesn’t take into account every aspect of cost of living, and is likely using dated statistics.
Palm Beach County single family home prices

You are looking at an average for 1 month. All it takes are a few homes to sell for $30M+ to skew the average for a single month. That is why real estate experts ignore monthly averages, and instead track median sale prices over time. From your linked article:

"Realtors prefer to use the median price as a measuring stick because it is the midpoint where half of the properties sell for less and half for more. It isn't as easily skewed as the average price."

Everything is higher in Florida

Here are 4 recent links to statistical studies showing the cost of living is higher in CT than FL. Your personal observation is anecdotel, & inaccurate. Do you have any studies supporting your opinion?

Republicans are leaving Blue States up East for Florida in part due to the overall lower cost of living in FLA vs NY, NJ, CT, MA. Florida's lower taxes are just 1 part of the overall cost of living. Palm Beach County is one of the most costly places in Florida...an outlier, & very poor choice for comparison....like Darien CT would be, or Westport, or Greenwich.

Thanks. Some people just like to trash Florida. Connecticut is about the last place on earth I would want to live. If you're going to live there you might as well live in NYC and get some benefit from all the money you're throwing away on government and paying retired teachers too much. There is no way I will EVER move back to Maryland, which isn't much different from CT when it comes to politics. The degree of "intrusion" blue states have in your life is a thousand times more than anything we have in Florida.

No offense but I live in Alabama - last place I'd want a second home is in Florida - I'd go North for the summers.
