I agree, especially living wise, it's my favorite city in Florida.

The biggest deterrent for me would be the brutal summer weather. I've heard the Orlando summers are comparable to the Phoenix summers in terms of how much they suck.

Phoenix??? Hell no lol. I don’t know how people can even breathe in the summer in Phoenix. The air feels like it’s burning my lungs.

It gets hot, and doesn’t benefit from any sort of sea breeze the way coastal places in the state do, but it’s nothing like Phoenix.

Admittedly, I've never experienced an Orland summer and only have Jacksonville for comparison. The summer I spent in Jax it was pretty nasty. But unlike Phoenix where it's basically hot all the time day after day, I noticed that storms would occasionally roll in around 1pm and the temps would drop down into the low 80's or even high 70's for the rest of the day.

Yeah, for me I can't do Phoenix summers because it is so dry. My skin and lungs are sensitive to dryness. Orlando has strong central A/C everywhere and there are a lot of water activities I love doing during the summer only from paddle boarding to tubing to swimming. However, I know some people cannot handle humidity and would hate it, but for me I don't mind humidity at all, especially when I'm doing water activities. I just can't deal with hot temperatures indoors, but everywhere here has strong A/C.

Its not that bad. The only really bad part is August & September because you're just ready for it to be over at that point.

You might not like the drier heat, but the reality is that, yes, July/August heat indices are generally very similar in the 2 cities. (Avg max heat index August 2023 was 107 degrees in both cities--93 with a 75 dew point for Orlando, 107 with a 56 dewpoint for Phoenix.)

That's exactly what it was: the dry heat. Felt like it was scorching my lunch, my skin, everything. And I have dark[er] skin, so you'd think I'd fare better in that extreme dry heat...?

Yeah it's the dryness that makes it seem unbearable because it's like my lungs and skin are being sucked out of all their moisture. Where as in Florida, the heat is full of moisture, so it can feel gross, but in no way feels like you are being cooked.
