...the link below says Florida's electric rates, rank among the nation's lowest:

from the link above...

Hawaii $663

Florida $220

For same kw usage as of June 2023.

Since the OP also lives in Hawaii, seems like that State's electric rates needs to be the squeaky wheel, & not FLA.

So no, a Tampa resident can not speak for Floridians.
Are St. Lucie residents Floridians???? Let's not pretend like this is not happening across the state.

Unless you live under a rock, people should realize that Florida has become warmer and more likely to have severe storms. So the price to cool your home and insure your home is going to go up. Many more people have moved in so housing is going up and more drivers mean higher car insurance.

The days of retiring to cheap Florida to live in.a double wide are over. If you cant afford the new Florida, it is better to live elsewhere. Unfortunately places change and you either adapt or move on.

With the planet super heating we will see less and less tropical storms as the upper levels heat up and dry out. Also see much more dust and smoke world wide. FL will become like the ME area of the world with no rain at all from fall to spring since fronts will stop coming this far south and summers will see very little rain on the west coast thanks to a never ending west flow bro

I remember how nice the east coast was on the beach as we did a job in Coco and Boca Raton in 1988 and stayed on the beach. Much better than the dry and crappy west coast.
