you guys are totally off the rails with this....

can the government come in and void contracts......no

alimony as awarded by the courts is a contract

Florida law specifically states that:

"SECTION 10. Prohibited laws. —No bill of attainder, ex post facto law or law impairing the obligation of contracts shall be passed."

not only Florida law....the US constitution also states it....it's a Federal law

"No Bill of Attainder or ex-post facto Law will be passed."

"The key term used in constitutional law is the phrase “Bill of Attainder.” Any new law that changes or eliminates the rights of people under past agreements or contracts is called a Bill of Attainder and is considered unconstitutional under both federal and Florida law."

again, if an alimony "contract" is written so it can be modified....nothing has changed

if an alimony "contract" is written so it CAN NOT be modified....nothing has changed

you are being played.......

If the prenup is written well by a good lawyer in a state that recognizes them, they hold up quite well.

If you have evidence showing otherwise, please share.

While they are at it, they should make changes with the way late child support payments are handled.
As it stands, if someone is late on their payments, which there should be consequences, the parent will have their driver's license suspended and serve jail time.

It makes no sense to me that the state would remove driving privileges limiting the person's ability to go to work and aquire money to pay the support. People get behind for legitimate reasons other than just being negligent and refusing to pay. So not only does the parent have to come up with the money to catch up the payment, they have additional fees such as reinstating their license.
Some parents have had their license suspended, and in a desperate attempt to go to work so they can pay the support, get caught driving on the suspended license. At this point, they are now in a huge mess dealing with the traffic fines and court costs, they risk losing the license all together, get even more behind on payments, and lose their jobs because of their driving record being tarnished with the suspensions.
I'm not saying that it's not a big deal to be late on child support by any means here. I'm just not understanding the logic behind making it difficult for the person to get to work so they can pay what's due. It makes no sense to me.
