Florida has always been the same, heaven for retirees hell for workers . Been here 40 years. Moved here because my husbands' family were natives. I was in H.R. Newcomers were constantly shocked at the low wages. One reason is a lot of retirees like to work " just to have something to do". They don't care about wages. Most young people have at least 2 jobs. All the young people in our family go north as soon as they graduate. Don't see that changing anytime soon. Retirees with fat pensions keep the cost of living high.
