My plan is if a Cat 4 or 5 is coning in on us 72 hours from arrival, we're bugging. Experts predict that to happen once every 27 years.

It looks like we'll escape July w/o a storm. September is the month I think about, because we're out of state, and not here to deploy the shutters.

A few years ago we left Sarasota with a Hurricane coning in on us. We rented a VRBO in Hilton Head for the month of September, so we left here thinking we'd be ditching that storm. Well...the darned thing took a northeast course, and turned Hilton Head into a scene from the Wizzard of Oz.

That was one scary night...we're in a circa 1970's frame 1 story condo with Pine trees hanging all over the roofline. I parked the car at the golf course parking in Sea Pines Ocean Course because it was higher than the parking spot at the condo's. That night the branches were crashing onto the roof, & the windows were bowing in and out like a sailboat sail. We huddled up in a interior bathroom bathtub for hours.

Next morning the entire ground was covered with pine needles...a sea of Green. Every car was 100% covered in pine needles. What a spectacle.
LOL.....yes, been there....Irma was right on our butts all the way north

Problem is, even if they build out the infrastructure....you're still going to have to stop and get elec...you can't take it with you like gas cans

after a hurricane you're not going to have elec....and with over 7 million people evacuating....there's just no way

NO ELEC AND NO GAS LAS. Most pumps would be dead fred and sitting in dead locked traffic as millions of fools clogs the roads would also be a fail while my EV would get by fine sitting in traffic vs a gas car sucking gas at a crazy rate nate. My EV can run for days just sitting. But like i typed i would never leave my house even with a super Cat 5 with gust to 230mph were coming.

Really does not matter what propels your car.

I would imagine you would have to plan earlier with an ev unless you were staying in state. I know last time I left I had a full tank of gas and 2 five gallon cans in the Prius. Went From Vero Beach to Albany Georgia and came back with 1 can still full.

Hybrids make more sense than EV's.
