Well, if you do not mind the horrendous heat, humidity, hurricanes evacuations, sink holes, obnoxious, low I.Q. people, and low wages, then you will be fine......however. it has the best beaches in the world..........

The times I've traveled back west I've found I can no longer stand that dry, arid air. Give me humidity all day, every day, year round.

COL hasn't been as low as expected, but still a vast improvement over where we came from.

My biggest qualm with FL thus far has been the people. We're in NE FL and there are quite a few rednecks in our area and that's just not my people in any way, shape or form. Politics aside, it's an eyesore for me and my family. We probably could have avoided that in other areas but we moved here for the schools (St Johns Co), which are still #1 in the state.
I agree.

Someone would have to drag me across the border kicking and screaming to get me out of Florida. It's the absolute best place to be in the world. I'll be here forever. It's incredibly diverse with so many different places and things to see and do. I find the people that don't love Florida are ones who live in a part of Florida they may not like so much, then make no effort to get out and see the State.

Go horseback camping, swim the springs, visit the Keys, little Havana, canoe the black water river, go offshore fishing, snorkeling, theme parks, space coast, treasure hunting, hiking, mountain biking, jet ski, hot air ballooning, aquariums, blue ways, night kayak the bioluminescence waters, last minute cruising, and really, the list could just go on and on and on and on. And it's available all year! How could anyone not love it here?

I always recommend to people to act like a tourist, even in your own area. If you live in South Florida, get on the HOHO buses, ride the water taxi, visit the tourist spots and explore.

Hurricanes are not a major problem in all of FL and where I live as the last 2 were downgraded to tropical and did almost zero damage except to the palm trees by blowing fronds off. Prior to these 2 it had been 14 years since the last one even got close.

No sink holes in this part of FL, and low IQ people constantly post negative things all the time here, low wages are common in every State for those doing low paying jobs and FL also has a lot of high paying jobs.

Now humidity takes getting used to but for most it is better than low humidity for skin, lips, throat, lungs, etc. I know I was born and raised in SoCal and the low humidity is a pain, though the weather beyond that is great. The beaches in FL, are not as beautiful as in CA but warm and far more enjoyable than in CA.

Well no, I never lived there. On the other hand I am careful about where I move to.

Being from Southern California myself, I agree with your assessment except that last sentence. I think one of the most beautiful aspects that Florida has over California are it's beaches. Florida beaches are constantly ranked in the top 10 as most beautiful beaches. Give me the blue turquoise water, white fine sand, and tropical backdrop to California's brown murky water, brown sand any day.

I was speaking of the beaches and their settings. Corona Del Mar State Beach as an example is flat out a beautiful setting, ditto places like La Jolla, and the middle and Northern coasts. Beautiful, cliffs, forests and more. Plus the CA Coastal Commission keeps them open and accessible. FL is not so good at that.

FL has beautiful beaches from the point of view of the water and ocean view for sure.

Plus every pier that I know of in CA is public and no cost to walk on them and many have nice restaurants on them like Ruby's in Oceanside.

Do I prefer FL beaches over CA? Yes, for swimming and beach activities.

Plus here in Volusia County a beach parking pass is $25.00 for the whole year and the city parking lots are free after registering the cars plate. Far better than CA.

I can see your point if you are including the cliffs as a backdrop. It's definitely beautiful when looking at those beaches from a distance. But even so, the beaches in California, especially San Diego where you are referring to is a mixed bag. The La Jolla Cove in my opinion is the most beautiful coastline/beach in SD County. And most of the beaches from La Jolla up North through most of Orange County are beautiful as well when you factor in the coastline. But on the contrary from San Ysidro to Pacific Beach (with the exception of Coronado) the beaches are more dirty, run down, very little coastal backdrop and often times a breeding ground for the homeless population. With Florida, in my opinion, I don't see as many run down beaches.

***A side note, I'm no fan of that pier in Oceanside, as that beach in particular isn't aesthetically appealing as some of the others in CA. It's cool that they have a Ruby's on the pier there, but they also have one on the pier in Huntington Beach that is much nicer than the one in Oceanside considering the overall appeal/setting between the two beaches.

However, I forgot to mention that most beaches get Red Tide starting from Naples to Sarasota, I have been told. Also, Florida has lots of crime, and it is increasing....
