I won't contribute my own salary, but I was surprised that I actually do know the estimated ranges of several friends in Palm Beach County/SE Florida, including:

Retail general manager, home decor store: 50,000.00
Retail general manager, clothing store: 70,000.00
Computer programmer, Large company: 100,000.00
Legal secretary: 50,000.00
Nurse Practitioner, pain management: 120,000.00
Recruiter, financial services: 300,000.00+
Asst. Portfolio Manager: 130,000.00
Insurance Agent: 40,000.00 (this is actually in Port St. Lucie)
Grounds superintendent, cemetery: 45,000.00
I am also very familiar with lawyer salaries in the region, ranging from about 45k for those doing public defender type work, to excess of million+ for top litigators. Most lawyers with 5 years experience in the private sector should at least be making in excess of 100k.

On the flip side, my youngest brother makes 13.50/hour working for order fulfillment in a warehouse in Vero, and I have another brother making $12.50/hour as customer service in a bank. Neither have college educations or specialized training, however. My mother in medical billing was also laid off and took a pay reduction of about $3/hour recently.

I make 22 dollars an hour as an electrician which is pretty close to 50K. I also don't have a college degree either, just a high school diploma. I'm 23 years old if that helps.

Thats not bad. I work in construction management and many of our subs make pretty good money. I work in Orlando, so pay scale may be higher than other areas throughout FL and the Southeast. I remember when I worked in NC for a short period of time doing the same thing as I do now, some of those guys were making $10 an hr. So $22 is pretty darn good, especially with just a HS diploma.

I am a waitress and I make anywhere from $100-$300 per shift.

I have a four year degree and twenty years experience in the hospitality business. I chose not to go back into that field.

I'm a fire medic too and ride as driver/engineer, which is a promotion. I don't work over time, but I'm only around $80,000. I work for Tampa which is the highest paying dept in the Tampa bay area.

Maybe your down in South Florida. I do know some of Miami-dade's firefighters can make that or your buddy is working a LOT of over time.
