Not anymore.

Used to be tons of high paying good jobs in the Midwest and the Carolinas.

All the manufacturing jobs we should still be doing like steel, clothing/textiles, tools, glassware, plastic etc need to be brought back and any company who picked up and left for Mexico should be heavily taxed and tariffs added to force them to come back where they belong.

I know of more then 11 companies in Ohio alone who packed up, screwed their long time employees and moved to Mexico.

We need to force them to come back or destroy their business.

Metro Orlando's median pay ranks last among the nation's 50 biggest metropolitan areas, and it has the largest share of jobs — 37 percent — paying less than $25,000 a year. That's nearly twice the rate of Las Vegas, another city built on tourism.

Central Florida also has the smallest share of jobs paying more than $50,000. And since 2002, median pay in the region, adjusted for inflation, has fallen by $1,761 — to $29,450 — as the number of middle-class and upper middle-class jobs tumbled because of the Great Recession.

Low median pay isn't a new phenomenon: In 2002 and 2007, before the recession hit, Orlando ranked 49th (ahead of San Antonio, Texas) among the top 50 metro areas.

***Metropolitan statistical areas ranked by median household income***
Overall Rank-MSA-Population-Median Household Income
52 West Palm Beach–Boca Raton, Florida MSA 1,131,184 $45,062
82 Jacksonville, Florida MSA 1,100,491 $42,439
87 Orlando, Florida MSA 1,644,561 $41,871
132 Miami–Fort Lauderdale, Florida CMSA 3,876,380 $38,632
156 Tampa–St. Petersburg–Clearwater, Florida MSA 2,395,997 $37,406

The point is there are 81 metros with salaries higher than in all Florida metro areas but one, and a good number of those have a cost of living that's less. Illustrating the Sunshine Tax is the main objective for those that believe (like you do obviously) that Florida is an economic mecca for those not making a go of it where they are now.

Factory in Ohio I know very well in 1995 had 5,000 workers.

2009 they left for Mexico. Took equipment all and but the building with them.

Leaving 5,000 people out of a job.

The big question is WHY did they find it necessary to relocate their operations to Mexico?
