First check out the brand(s) your local pet supply carries. They do vary and you do have quite a bit of choice. It might be sourced from a smaller operation with more consistent quality control than the big bulk marketers. Plus, you'd be supporting local small businesses and providing a market for beef byproducts. If you find a brand you and your dog seem to like, then price shop on Amazon.

Have you tried squeeky toys?

As for chew toys, you never know what your dog will like. I bought about 20 of various towys for my dog and let him decide. Some he ignored. Some he wouldn't put down. Expensive but far cheaper than a vet bill, for example.

Who knows?

These days you can bring your dog into Pet Smart or Petco and test sample what he is interested in maybe.

Don't use rawhide bones if your dog gets gassy. That would make for a long and odoriferous trip.

Believe it or not, elk antlers. My daughter gets them for her dogs, they love them. My Dobie, who has a very powerful bite, chews them for hours. They're not cheap, but last a long time, so they are worth it. You can find online, but the last ones I bought were from Petco.

The vet recommended to NOT give Nylabones. They literally fractured my little dog's teeth a number of years ago...expensive vet bills & I felt so bad, as I thought I was doing a good thing.

My 4 dogs chew pine cones and sticks. They pick them up in the yard a demolish them. Occasionally they’ll grab a split log from the woodpile too, although that pees me off.

My parents brought home a two littermate Scotties when we were kids. Shortly after that we moved to a new house that happened to have a very productive lemon tree in the back yard. This was also right when the Scotties were learning games like fetch. We didn't happen to have any balls around so someone picked a lemon off the grass and taught him the game with that instead.

For the rest of his life MacDougal chose lemons as his favorite toy. He'd fetch them, toss and carry them around, bury and unbury them, lick and gnaw on them, sleep with them. The lemon juice bleached his whiskers and beard. The only problem was lemons aren't very durable. Eventually his treasured fruit of the moment would turn into a mushy moldy mess or leave sticky bits all over the carpets. He'd rub his juicy whiskers/beard along the hem of upholstered furniture leaving a Scotty-face height grime line. Sometimes we'd have to "accidentally" hurl a particularly nasty specimen onto pavement so it would finally smash beyond what even he could stomach and put it out of our collective misery. Then he'd happily rush off to find a newer vintage replacement.

^^One of my dog does that with apples from the orchard. I have to monitor her because of the seeds.

Hey NJDevil! Tryin' to keep your pup entertained on long trips is a struggle, I feel ya. Nylabones are good, but sometimes pups get bored with 'em. Have you tried those frozen Kongs with peanut butter or treats inside? They keep my dog busy for a while. Also, bully sticks or Himalayan chews are long-lasting and good for chompers. Just make sure to watch your girl while she's chewin' on those. Good luck with your trip!
