and yet, there are those like me who flop on my back, arms open wide, and "Kiss me, my Great Egyptian God, you!" (was his name "Seth"?).
Where do such attitudes like Lucy's come from? Is that puppy love is just not understood? Or is the knowledge of "Do you know where his mouth has been???????" prevalent?

Based on my experience with many dogs over 40+ years, it has mostly to do with knowing that they lick other dog butts and sometimes eat poop. "Get the disinfectant, get the iodine!"
I find kissing a dog's nose or letting a dog to lick your face disgusting!!
Yes, they sniff on other dogs pee, eat poop, and lick their own... you know.
How someone would find this kind of affection appealing??
BTW: I do love dogs, but not that.

Don't think I've ever witnessed one dog licking another's butt but they certainly do sniff them. Something tells me they reserve that particular pleasure for the one they own. Ah well, the world's a germy place. You either learn to limit how much that worries you or you don't.

I always thought the world would be a better place if we had the sense of smell a dog has. Get to know the people you come across every day in a more organic way.

Not sure I'd want that. Many "organic" odors this human's nose can detect are bad enough already!

I can certainly understand why some people are not pleased to get dog kisses, they sniff butts, like their privates, some eat poop, eat road kill.....
Despite that, it doesn't bother me, though my dog is not a big licker, I kiss the heck out of his face.

I’d like to think my dog just loves me so much that he wants to lick me on the mouth, but alas, I think he just wants a sniff of whatever I ate last.
I figure that dogs are pretty filthy, but even a foot of filth covering my Perfect is nothing compared to how Perfect she is. Dogs aren’t bothered by their filth and I am not either.
