Luckily I have Diamond status with Hilton and if I ask they almost always allow me to park under the front overhang. But with my Disabled Placard I can park very close regardless. I never park in dark areas away from the traveled areas, even at the nicer hotels. And I do have one of those hotels in Canon City you speak of so all set for there.

As an aside comment, I did the Moki Dugway long, long ago. Went up. Interesting.

These days a YouTube video is a good enough option unless you are in it for the adrenaline rush and / or fear.

I spent many years riding motorcycles including my touring bike and I've done many switchback roads but out east. Driving up Mount Washington in NH about sent my wife to an early grave. I could do this but it would be a little far for the drive I am doing. My days of riding the MC are over though.
