I'm hoping someone can help answer a few questions for me so I can make a decision as soon as possible.

I currently live in a Resort Town in Idaho that's dying and would like to move back to Colorado in order to finish my degree. Before I lived in Steamboat Springs, Co. and could barely afford the $900 a month daycare.

So my questions are:

Is after school daycare easy to find and what is the average monthly cost? Is there waiting lists?

My background has mostly been in Resort Work: Food and Beverage, Catering Conventions and such. So is it going to be hard to find enough work to support my daughter and my self while I attend school?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

After school daycare is not hard to find, almost every school in the area has contracted with a large umbrella organization. The one at my daughter's school is willing to have us just start having her go there at a moment's notice if we need it- they need kids there!

http://junioracademy.org/ This place had a location at Divine Redeemer, a Catholic K-8 school, my daughter was at Pre-K there. They are also at her current elementary school, Midland. They're... everywhere. The cost may vary by location. I can't remember what my daughter's was, so I hesitate to tell you a cost for her. We had her there only part-time. I would call and find out I was always pleased with them, fwiw. She always had homework time and I felt she was safe.

Good luck!

To answer your question about Tamarack Resort, yes I worked for them when they were going full bore and then again this past season. We had hoped that they would have their issues resolved by now, but it doesn't look like it's going to be a quick process. Plus there is rumors of them splitting apart the resort and bringing in outside management teams to run the different operations, leaving nothing but entry service positions open. I've tried to wait it out for as long as possible, but not sure what the future holds. The entire area has suffered dramatically partly due to Tamaracks troubles, along with the end of construction throughout the area. I've been here on and off for 14 years and have never seen the local economy this bad. For the past two years people have been moving out by the droves, now I'm included. Hope that answers your question.

Thank you so much for the information regarding daycare. I will give them a call tomorrow and do some more research. I really don't care what I do for work upon arrival. I can wait tables or bartend until I can find something better as long as there is plenty of service industry jobs available. I've already started applying for a few, but know that my chances of getting a job are better if I'm there. So I plan on making a trip out in the next few weeks to see what I can find.

Thank you again for your help.
