Not knocking you personally, but what a sad state of modern life if this is what we've become as a society. No wonder our urban centers are filling up with those who can't do it anymore and have given up. A big economic shift is needed for everyone's benefit.

Well, living around family is a major priority for some, but not for others. And, being the fact that you are only in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, I don't know how advisable it would be for you to move, but that is entirely up to you. Just remember, once you do move, it isn't easy (financially or whatever) to go back to So. California.

As far as Caldwell goes, we've never been there, but have been watching their rodeo on tv/Roku. I have been in Boise, but it was many years ago and I'm sure, without a doubt, it has changed since I was there.

Idaho, in general, is pretty different than what you are use to in So California. There are those that truly like the "difference" and those that don't and end up leaving. Just remember, all of Idaho gets a winter with cold temps and snow. Something else to think about.

In case you are wondering, wife and I are in our mid 70's and couldn't wait to leave So California/Orange County area after we married in 2001. Not all families get along and she didn't get along to well with hers.

Just like anywhere else in America, you will read about "the good, the bad and the downright ugly" of everywhere, including the Caldwell area. Just depends on who is replying to you.

Basically, all I can say is...........GOOD LUCK!!

The more you make per hour, the less you can justify a longer commute. Buyers should factor in where they like to dine and play after work as well.

As they build the Highway 16 extension onto I-84, that will alleviate some of the traffic in Eagle and Star.
I wasn't aware of Hwy 16 extension.

Here is a pretty good article from the Idaho Transportation Department that describes their plans. They are actively working on Phase 2 now and the new onramp onto I-84 is taking shape. . . https://itdprojects.org/projects/sh16construction/

I would assume Emmett and surrounding area will grow like Kuna has, once the HWY 16 project is completed. I'd guess it's already starting, but I haven't been out that way for about a year.

Yes, it is growing as well. I never thought I would see national builders like Toll Brothers in Emmett! They do have a nice 1,586 sq. ft. single story home to be built that will be under $350,000. I just sent that listing to one of my out of state buyers.

Interesting. Will that hwy 16 be going over existing home neighborhoods?
Will that help out getting to and from Emmett?

Yes, that will make it a lot easier commuting from Emmett. It will take a lot of pressure off Eagle Road, 10 Mile and Garrity at I-84. Many of the intersections are planning overpasses so you won't get the backup's at the major intersections during rush hour.
