My family and I are from Texas but since visiting idaho this past summer we are considering a move up there. My wife has fallen in love with the beauty that idaho has to offer and it's friendly people. We are a family of five with kids ages from 6-1 years old. Any input on these two town would be very appreciated . Thanks!

Personally the beauty that Idaho has to offer can't be found out in Nampa or Caldwell. Plus it's 30 minutes away from all of the amenities that Boise has to offer. Depending where in the Nampa area you are, it smells bad due to the sugar beet factory. Last but not least you will be stuck with the dreaded 2C license plates.

The Nampa school district has been plagued by serious financial mismanagement over the past few years. It was one of the weaker school districts in the valley before the problems and it's likely to get worse as they try and plug the budget gaps. It's worth reading up on if you're considering moving there with five kids.

I agree with everything grmi66 added, too.

Hello, I live in Nampa near CWI univeristy and I am very happy here. However there is the smell but I just keep my house windows and car windows closed. I was able to buy a beautiful 4 bedroom with a bonus room, custom kitchen, 3 car garage for $160,000. The neighborhood kids play in the culdesac and about 4 of us homeowners have front patio furniture and have coffee outside in the mornings. The people are extremely friendly and the area is clean and well maintained.

As with any city there are good and bad parts. I talked with the Nampa police department about 4 times prior to purchasing my house. One I wanted to here about the bad areas, if there were gang problems, and if my house was in a desirable area. We emailed back and forth and they were honest and helpful.
