I think this Battle would be more between Augusta, Macon, and Columbus than Savannah though. Savannah is more of a Deep historical City, on the Coast of GA and kinda has a its own Feel and is in a league of its own.
I wouldn't necessarily call it influence, but I do know that Savannah unquestionably gets the most attention from metro Atlanta residents as a tourism destination because of its popular European-style Colonial-era historic district (which includes many bars) and its close location to the beaches of the Atlantic Coast.

HELLO ALL---

Hold your horses on this one. Thread was not Created to Cause Tensions, but for a healthy Discussion and more so from the Metro Atlanta Point of View, directed at Georgia 2nd-Tier Cities. I probaly should have left Savannah out of this one because its True, its in a League of its own. Most people from there own 2nd Tiers probaly couldnt be objective anyway, Every one wants there City to be the Next Atlanta when it aint gonna Happen, so let me be clear, THIS is a Metro Atlanta's View point only, that's why its posted in the Atlanta Thread. My Opinion though, i think MACON would take the Cake, not including Savannah. Having visited all 2nd Tier Cities, MACON feels most Dense, Gritty, Dirty, Ugly and Urban to me. It also has the most blight. Cant even compair it to Atlanta. It actually doesnt feel much like a Southern City at all in some spots, more Midwestern or Northeastern to me but thats just my personal opinion and a lot of others that have been there from those areas always say the same. As far as outer Metro, it is the closest to Metro Atlanta than any other 2nd Tier, so it actually is Affected by Metro Atlanta including Commuting patterns because it Abuts Metro Atlanta to the North.

Kinda weird, but i felt the historic core of savannah and columbus had more of a "city" feel than many parts of Atlanta.

Fairlie-Poplar is probably the only part of Atlanta proper that's as structurally urban as Savannah's historic district.

No.

You're confusing "urban" with "19th century".

Yes.

I'm not confusing anything and I know what I'm talking about. I hope you're not going to tell me that Buckhead is as structurally urban as Savannah's historic district because it has highrises, upscale shopping, and MARTA stations.
